This Victorian Home Is No Shrinking Violet
The exterior may be bold, but inside you’ll find a rainbow of soft hues.
Of all the exterior colors out there, purple is a rare sight. That’s why we were so thrilled to find this beautiful circa 1882 Victorian located in Chatham, New Jersey. Its rich plum hue radiates charm and lets the white and gold gingerbread flourishes pop, offering undeniable curb appeal.
The interior embraces color in a whole different way — through a palette of muted shades. Opting for pastels help make the rooms, which were recently renovated to create a more open floor plan, appear even larger. The pastels also bring the focus to original architectural features like inlaid floors, archways, crown molding, exposed brick, and fireplaces.
But our favorite feature has to be the windows, which are like a greatest hits album of historic design. There are lattice details, stained glass designs, pocket and floor-to-ceiling windows. As a result, the home is filled with natural light (and plenty of opportunities to get creative with window treatments).

Though the precisely $949,999 price tag is out of our range, we’d happily take a dollhouse modeled after this quaint home.
